The program culminated with a celebration at the Center for Victims, where the participants’ project plans were on display.

  • Teaching Resiliency to Intersectional Youth and Families (Dr. Josie Badger, J Badger Consulting Inc.)

The PLC, organized by the Black Girls Equity Alliance (BGEA), consisted of three sessions.

Day One focused on trauma theory and the neurobiology of trauma.

Day Two featured Florida A&M University Professor and President of the Association of Black Psychologist Dr. Huberta Jackson-Lowman, who unpacked the historical, social, and political context surrounding the traumatization of Black girls.

Day Three, featuring Dr. Walter Smith, retired Deputy Director of CYF, empowered participants to advocate within their organizations for support and services for Black girls who have experienced trauma. PLC participants will now implement their projects.
